Between 1988 and 1993 Maitreya, the World Teacher, released a series of forecasts and analyses of the current state of the world, as well as fragments of His teachings. Through one of His close associates in the Asian community of London, these were released to Share International for publication and were sent to the world’s media as press releases. Phrased in the words of His associate, Maitreya’s spiritual teachings are arranged here by subject in the hope of facilitating the reader’s study and application in daily life.

Experience, Being and Becoming

Fragments of Maitreya's teachings on these subjects are presented for study and application in daily life. (1073 words)

Your experience is your personal blessing. What you have experienced, you know. Others can only understand once they have experienced. (May 1990)

No one is born to lead another. Everyone is born to experience the Lord in His creation. The moment you do so, you will enjoy life in the Lord’s creation. (Sep 1989)

We are all connected to the Almighty and we do not need scriptures to experience our true Selves. (Apr 1990)

When the spirit is dry, you go to church, temple or mosque. By going there, you are following one aspect of life. To know the Lord in His totality, practise honesty, sincerity and detachment. Then you will know the Lord is ‘within’ and ‘without’. Maitreya says “I have not come to command you. I have come to free you. With detachment, My powers can be used by you for the good of all.” (Sep 1989)

“Please do not presume things. This amounts to ‘a soft landing’ which satisfies the mind. ‘Isms’ are like small pills that give the mind little breaks in life. Mind, spirit and body feel a bit ‘high’, a bit happy. But the realities of life can never be comprehended via ‘isms’. They can only be experienced. Experience and vision go together.” (Apr 1990)

The moment you experience the Almighty, you are no longer what you were. You merge into Light straight away. This is why the Lord gives a vision in the form the mind can understand and the spirit can absorb.

When you are free of attachments, as Buddha was, you are given the vision of the Absolute (nirvana). (Sep 1988)

When you experience the One who sustains you, who is the source of all creation, you know that without Him nothing takes place. At such a time, the Self is oblivious to everything that is happening around it. (Nov 1988)

When you are honest, sincere, detached, you can reach this stage. (Nov 1988)

“Whatever you are doing, be yourself, be honest, sincere and detached”, this will create an experience in that individual which will dissolve the ‘isms’ in mind, spirit and body. (Jul/Aug 1989)

Experiences which follow from honesty of mind, sincerity of spirit and detachment are genuine, pure, spontaneous, unconditioned.  Maitreya says: “Do not cheat yourself. Respect yourself.” (May 1990)

It is the experience which will free mind, spirit and body from ‘isms’, from conditioning. When the person experiences himself as he is, he can feel the ‘observer’ within. The observer within is not a limited, finite person. It is infinite, and many call it ‘divinity’. The observer is divine. This is the connection between the Self and the Divine. (Jul/Aug 1989)

If you have a direct experience of the Lord, will it matter, then, whether you become a millionaire, a king or a beggar?

This experience alone is sufficient to create equilibrium in mind, spirit and body. This experience can never change. It is eternal. Once you have it, it is always with you, even if you leave your mind, spirit and body. When you experience the Almighty, you do not create divisions. (Sep 1989)

Maitreya says, “I do not want you to believe in Me. First experience Me within you. When you experience Me then you become aware of My presence within you. It is not a matter of belief first.”

“When I am with you, you have nothing to fear. When you are aware, you know I am with you and you are with Me.”

“Thought cannot enter the Kingdom of God. You must enter the Kingdom of God.” (Oct 1988)

“You are experiencing Me at every moment. Every moment, I am with you. Only those whose mind, spirit and body are tranquil, in a state of equilibrium, become aware of God’s presence.

“There are times when you become aware that someone is behind you, within you, over you, around you — something is present. That ‘something’ is the Almighty. It does not participate; it observes. No one need struggle for this step. Everyone qualifies at this stage. Then, as your awareness grows, if you practise the discipline of detachment, you will know Me in My totality. The moment you think of Me, I am with you.” (Sep 1989)

Maitreya’s message here is: “I do not want you to accept or reject me. It is your inner experience which counts”. (Sep 1988)

Being and Becoming

Being is eternal, Becoming is the unfolding in time and space. (Dec 1988)

Being and becoming are two modalities. Being is unchanging, whereas becoming is a process in time and space. Man, in his Being, is the Self. In his becoming, he is the soul — the reflection of the Self. Mind, spirit and body are the temples of the Lord which man inhabits. Spirit is Shiv-shakti, which is energy. Mind is Brahma, which is thought-formation. Body is Prakriti, which is material substance and can also be thought of as material activity. These terms can be thought of as nouns, but they can also be thought of as movement or processes.

The destiny of the Self is to be free. Considered in its freedom, in its Being, it is called Atman. Within the limitations of time and space, in its becoming, it is the soul, or Jiva.

The Self is not energy (Shiv-shakti, spirit); the Self is not thought-formation (Brahma, or mind); the Self is not material activity (Prakriti, the body). The destiny of the Self is to enter and leave these temples of the Lord at will.

Detachment is the process whereby man ceases to identify with the body (material aspect), with the mind (thought aspect) and with spirit (energy or power aspect). Thus he comes to know and be his real Self.

Any action you perform should be done according to these three principles: honesty of mind, sincerity of spirit and detachment. Any action performed with dishonesty of mind, an insincere spirit and attachment is destructive.

If a person is overpowered by Shiv-shakti, he can perform miracles. Yet the person looks withdrawn, blank. If a person is overpowered by Brahma, he can be a philosopher, but he can be imprisoned in that thought formation.

When we consider the trinity, as Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu (the sustaining aspect), it is also possible for a person to be overpowered by the Vishnu aspect. He can give, and give generously, perhaps become a saint, but that, too, can be a prison. (Oct 1988)
